Botox (neurotoxin) aftercare

After getting precision Botox, Xeomin, Daxxify, Dysport, or Letybo at The Refinery Lake Guntersville, make sure to follow the below recommendations to avoid complications and ensure it looks its best.

First 48 Hours—Protect & Settle

Avoid rubbing or pressure: Do not rub, massage, or apply firm pressure to treated areas for 24 hours. Avoid facials, facial massages, tight hats/headbands, or lying face-down.

Exercise & heat: Avoid vigorous exercise for 24 hrs. Avoid saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms, and excessive heat exposure for the remainder of the day. Stay well hydrated.

Tenderness, bumps, or headache: Mild redness, swelling, bumps, and tenderness at injection sites is normal and usually resolves within a few minutes to hours. Bruising is common.

Some patients experience a mild headache the day of treatment. You may take Tylenol for this.

Days 3 - 7—Settling In

Be patient: Botox results are not immediate. You will begin noticing subtle changes within 3–5 days, but full results typically take 2 weeks.

Facial movement: It is normal to still have movement during the first week while the product gradually takes effect.

Mild asymmetry: Temporary unevenness can occur while Botox settles. One side may respond slightly faster than the other during the first week.

Days 8–14—Final Results

Full results: Your final Botox results are seen. Botox generally lasts 3–4 months depending on your body’s metabolism and muscle activity.

Touch-ups: Minor adjustments, if needed, are provided in clinic at the 2 week mark.

Call us: If you experience asymmetry, drooping that worsens significantly, or any unusual symptoms that concern you.
